
The Sault Ste. Marie Himalayan balsam Community Project is a city-wide environmental stewardship campaign that focuses on the prevention and management of Himalayan balsam. The Invasive Species Centre is teaming up with local organizations to tackle the growing Himalayan balsam population by educating the public on identification, prevention, reporting and management. The goal of this project is to inspire and encourage the community to get involved in protecting their local environment. over the past 3 summer The Invasive Species Centre, Lake Huron North, and amazing volumetry’s around the Sault Ste. Marie area have come together to help take out Himalayan balsam in 3 locations around Algoma including loon dollar monument in Echo Bay, Drake Street Park, in Sault Ste. Marie, and Kensington point road in Desbarats!
